Beyond Yourself is a multi-year project to climb the highest peak on each continent before I turn 30 while raising money and awareness for Fields of Life. My hope is that as I embark on and document this journey that you are encouraged to live for more. To inspire you to live and pursue your biggest dreams. To encourage you to make a difference. To live beyond yourself.
Just an ordinary guy aiming to achieve the extraordinary by climbing the highest peaks on each continent before I turn 30. Those peaks will be Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, Aconcagua in South America, Carstensz Pyramid in Oceania, Kosciuszko in Australia, Denali in North America, Vinson in Antarctica, and capping off the project with Everest in Asia.
I know that people ask this when I mention this project. To answer part of this question, I'll quote the great mountaineer George Mallory and say "Because it's there." I do want to add to that and say that it's more than just because the mountains are there. But it's because there are hurting people in the world. And why would we not help if we have the ability to do something about it?
To inspire you to pursue your biggest dreams, live for the journey that comes with those dreams, and to encourage you to make those dreams about more than just you - about something more.
In the end we hope to have raised enough money to help I Am Girl, build water projects, and ultimately build a new school in East Africa through Fields of Life. Part of the vision is also to start an organization with the name Beyond Yourself to help people achieve their wildest dreams and goals whilst making a difference and an impact in the world.
