Beyond Yourself

Message from Taylor

"After deciding that I wanted to live out this project for something more, I scoured the internet for days looking through and vetting different charities and nonprofits to partner with. I had heard of Fields of Life through the trekking company that I will be doing most of my climbs with. Their founder had built a school through them after climbing Everest and currently sits as the president of the US board of directors for Fields of Life. He talked about how ethical FOL is and how the overwhelming majority of their funds go to projects and they spend as little as possible on administrative overheads. So I looked into them a little more and fell in love with the programs and vision of the charity. And ever since I have come on board to do this project I have felt like family. That is my hope, is that through Beyond Yourself and Fields of Life, we can create a family that is loves and is passionate about changing lives, transforming communities, and building hope for the future of East Africa. So by partnering with me and Fields of Life, you will be making a difference in the lives of families, children, and communities. You will be creating a sustainable future for those that may not have it otherwise. You are creating opportunities for young girls to have access to hygiene products, communities to have safe and reliable water sources, and for young children to be able to have an education. You will be living for more. So partner with me, and lets live beyond ourselves."

About Fields of Life

Fields of Life is committed to sharing the Christian faith, by collaborating with local communities and churches in East Africa, to bring about positive change through the provision of quality educationclean waterhealth promotion and other community based projects. They have almost twenty five years of experience of working in East Africa. They work in UgandaRwandaBurundiKenyaDemocratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan seeking to work with partners in providing sustainable community development.

What they do

The I Am Girl initiative was launched in 2014 to address some of the many challenges young girls in East Africa face on a daily basis. It is the goal of FOL to educate both boys and girls, men and women within their school network on issues such as gender equality, menstrual hygiene management, gender based violence, and child protection. We are also passionate about improving the personal hygiene and health of young girls through the provision of reliable water sources, improved washing facilities and access to appropriate sanitary protection. I Am Girl is committed to empowering girls to complete their education and grow into strong, healthy young women. For more information on I Am Girl, please click here or you can contact me here.

The WASH program incorporates the provision of a safe water supply, adequate sanitation facilities and appropriate hygiene promotion practices to marginalized communities in order to protect the health and quality of life of thousands of people. Access to adequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is one of the most fundamental basic human rights. Yet, 663 million people are living without clean water and 2.4 billion people do not have adequate toilet facilities. For many in East Africa, this could literally mean the difference between life or death. At Fields of Life, we have three of our own drilling rigs and equipment. This enables us to drill our own wells at the most cost-effective rate. Our hydrogeologist ensures each borehole is drilled in the most suitable location and our drilling teams work hard to complete every well to the highest possible standard. For more information on WASH, please click here or you can contact me here.

There are future plans to raise money for the WASH program through Beyond Yourself, so stay tuned!

Fields of Life believes in the power of Education to change the world. We are passionate about providing access to the highest possible standards of education. We partner with local churches and communities who share our desire to educate children and unlock their potential to become the future change makers, influencers, and leaders in East Africa. Education goes beyond bricks and mortar. Our quality education program empowers and supports all of the Fields of Life partner schools to be child focused centers of excellence. This enables all of the children in our school network to benefit from Christian education, child protection, teacher training, I Am Girl, and water, sanitation, and hygiene programs. There are future plans to raise money to build a school in East Africa through Beyond Yourself, so stay tuned!
